Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka are going to be without defender Damia Abella for that Sky Bet Championship clash with Brentford. He's going to be joined on the sidelines by compatriot Daniel Ayala, who collected his fifth booking in the campaign with the Cardiff City Stadium, while goalkeeper Tomas Mejias will pass up with a back problem. However, Jonathan Woodgate may just be contained in the squad after going back to the bench last weekend following a hamstring injury.

Long-term absentees Rhys Williams (Achilles) and Muzzy Carayol (cruciate) carry on and work their made use of to fitness but remain a long time clear of returning.

Brentford have no new injury worries but they are still without Scott Hogan and Sam Saunders. Striker Hogan has undergone a surgical procedure to correct his cruciate ligament and it is now beginning the long road returning to fitness, while winger Saunders has yet to play this season due to a knee injury.

New signing Betinho, created on loan from Sporting Lisbon to change Hogan, made his debut to be a late substitute against Norwich in midweek after finally receiving international clearance and should be involved again.

Skipper Tony Craig is pushing for any recall at the back and can can be found in for James Tarkowski, whose error gifted Norwich their first goal in Brentford's 3-0 defeat.
